The team at Modplan received formal recognition of its commitment to environmental sustainability and quality management when it was presented with its ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems and ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems certificates by the British Board of Agrément recently.
Heidi Sachs, Modplan’s Managing Director said, “We knew we had achieved the certifications a couple of months ago, but it was great to have them formally presented to us. Our environment team and management team both worked extremely hard to gather the information together and implement the actions needed for the audits by the British Board of Agrément. The presentation was a great opportunity to celebrate their hard work. It was also a good opportunity to thank the British Board of Agrément for their help and support during the certification processes too.”
As you would expect from the environmental certification, Modplan’s environmental credentials make impressive reading. Measures such as increasing the company’s use of energy efficient processes and investing in energy efficient equipment, lighting and controls and fuel efficient vehicles are just the start. The team is also committed to further increasing the 80% of waste plastic and cardboard that is already recycled, thereby reducing the amount of waste that is sent to landfill year on year. Engineered controls, workforce training and environmental awareness all go towards preventing pollution at source, while emergency environmental controls will minimise the environmental damage in the event that an incident does occur.
ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems assesses a company’s ability to consistently provide product that meets customer and applicable regulatory requirements. The fact that Modplan met its stringent requirements will further bolster its reputation for reliability, responsibility and commitment to customer service.
Heidi said, “Being awarded the certificates was a great way to celebrate the company’s achievements. But what’s more important is that we continue our efforts to provide our customers with quality products and quality service while minimising our impact on the environment and preserving our world for future generations.”
The BBA’s Sales and Communications Director, Alan Thomas, concluded, “ We were delighted to add this latest award to Modplan’s impressive list of BBA certifications. With product endorsements for windows and doors and CE marking too, Modplan is ahead of the game in meeting the requirements that the rest of the industry will have to address as we move towards implementation of the Construction Products Regulation in 2013”
